What is a Buffer? Well a Buffer is a solution that is resistant to Acids and Bases, meaning its pH will stay the same even if it is mixed with an acid or base.
What are buffers comprised of?

Buffers are made of a weak conjugate acid/conjugate base pair. This means that a buffer is comprised of either a weak acid and its conjugate base or a weak base and its conjugate acid. Buffers can have different pH's so the conjugate acid/conjugate base pair is dependent upon the desired pH of the buffer.
How do Buffers work?

Buffers are able to maintain their ph when dissolved in a solution because the conjugate acid and base are both present in the buffer. The conjugate acid and conjugate base are able to neutralize each other when they are added to a acid or base solution with a ph not equal to the buffer's.
