PRoperties of Acids and Bases
Acids and Bases are defined by the theories mentioned previously. This being said both Acids and Bases have unique characteristics that vary depending on strength and concentration.
PRoperties of Acids
-Acids have a ph under 7 on the ph scale
-Acids have a poh over 7 on the poh scale
-They taste sour
-They turn blue litmus paper red (or rojo if your spanish)
-They are neutralized bases to create salt and water
-They are neutralized alkalis to create salt and water
-They are neutralized by carbonates to create salt, water, and carbon dioxide (CO2)
-Acids conduct electricity

Properties of Basess
-Bases have a ph over 7 on the ph scale
-Bases have a poh under 7 on the poh scale
-They taste bitter
-They turn red litmus paper blue
-Bases react with acids to form salt and water
-Bases conduct electricity
-Bases are slippery (ex. soap)
